Treatment for cold sores?

I’ve gotten cold sores practically my whole life and I usually just let them run their course but I’m just wondering if there is any home remedies for treating them. I know there’s no cure and I know Abreva works but I can’t afford to buy anything. I heard holding an ice cube to it helps, which I tried but I’m willing to try just about anything at this point.

Katie: try something called Herpaflor tablets, you can find it on Google – maybe Herpaflor.com or just search on it. Anyway, they will stop the cold sores before they even really get going. I know from personal experience, and I have told 2 friends about it too and it works for them. One of them had cold sores her whole life, I mean like once every month or two, and even she was able to stop them.
