Say if someone who has cold sores on their lips, touched their lips and then touched my genital area, would that give me genital herpes? I know the difference between type 1 and type 2, just wondering if type 1 and be contagious to the genital area other than engaging oral sex? Thanks

yes it is possible when kissing other parts of another person’s body. especially parts w/ body’s secretions
Yes, type 1 and type 2 are interchangeable so someone with cold sores can transfer it to someone else’s genital area. If the person with a cold sorre touches it when it is open and oozing and then touches you, yes you can get it this way. The liquid that is in the blister is infectious and easily spread. And if someone has genital herpes and you perform oral on them you can get genital herpes on and in your mouth. You can also get other STD’s this way in your throat, nose, and eyes.
its transferred usually to lips can to eyes and genitals so be careful.
