With the cold sore, there is no best time for it to appear on your beautiful lips. You must agree with me that they have a perfect timing, just when you are about to go for an interview, wedding or going to sit an exam. You must be asking yourself just why this happens. This is because the herpes virus which causes the cold sore is greatly triggered by stress.
Cold sores are best treated during the initial stages. This is when you get the symptoms such as a burning sensation, itching or a tingling effect on your lip. The first outbreak is usually worse than a recurrent one and is best treated with oral medication and the second one can be topically treated. You can take 1500mg of Famciclovir (Famvir) once which is FDA approved. This will shorten the healing period by two days.
It is also very important to control the acid in your body. When you are in good health, the PH balance is around 7.4 which is slightly alkaline. When it falls below 7 on the PH scale, then your system is said to be turning acid. When you are under heavy stress, suffering from flu or when you are exposed to too much sun, your body will turn on the acidic side. Its therefore advisable to avoid acidic foods such as tomatoes, citrus or anything with vinegar should you think that they will touch on the sore.
On this strength, you can dab alcohol or hydrogen peroxide on the sore to clean it. Your sore should heal much faster though when you are cleaning it you might experience some pain, it shall save you the agony of having the sore longer though.
